<br />
While putting this collage together, I realised how little I have done with Pivotal Xpressions in 2013. It's been a very quiet year with the business. I must admit it's got to the point that I'm not too sure what to do with it, do I close or have a break? My husband said to have a break and to have a think. Yes I am still thinking, so hopefully I will have an answer in 2014 of where I will go. <br />
<br />
In the meantime I want to thank my readers for still sticking around. Have a wonderful and peaceful Christmas and an amazing New Year. See you in 2014. I decided to make a general 1950's dress, not an outfit that directly comes from the film, because I wanted to create something that I would have the opportunity to wear again. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Last year I came across <span style="color: black;"><b style="font-style: italic;"><a href="http://sensibility.com/" target="_blank">Sense & Sensibility Patterns</a> </b>on the net. I am not an experienced sewer, but they had a pattern that even a beginner could give a go. So I dived in and purchased the pattern and then a pink fabric with white polka dots, and gave it ago. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: black;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: black;">Overall I found the pattern a little bit of a challenge because I've never ever constructed pleats, but with the help of a few tutorials on YouTube, I was on my way to completing my first ever dress. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: black;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: black;">Overall I was happy with the result, but next time I wont make the sash, I found it kept bunching up and moving. Other than that the dress was perfect for what I wanted. </span></div>

Joseph Leslie 'Squizzy' Taylor was a gangster here in Melbourne in the 1920's.<br />

I thought it was a nice touch that this exhibition was being displayed within the Gaol. The costumes are wonderful but I am always surprised how the costumes look more detailed on the TV / movie screen than they do in the flesh. </div>

Bucket lists they are a funny thing. I must admit I had never heard of the term, until the movie 'The Bucket List, starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman came out. Is it an American term, I don't know.<br />
<br />
My husband has always wanted to jump out of a plane - a tandem jump. So for Fathers Day, we gave him a voucher so he could fulfill his dream. So yesterday down at Barwon Heads in Victoria he tackled his dream and jumped out of a plane. <br />
<br />
I waited on Terra Firma while the plane gradually gained height and reached it's aim of 14,000 ft. This took 25 minutes. We were informed by staff they had jumped out. I remember seeing the parachutes open, best way to describe it, was they looked like flowers blooming very quickly. Then they landed, it was so quick.<br />
<br />
My husbands descriptions of what it's like to jump out of a plane, fall through a cloud and land is amazing and also darn frightening, from my point of view. He wants to do it again, yikes I thought. I said to him, I guess roller coasters will be an anti-climax now, he said, "yep they will".<br />

Well it's finished!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhz74G-XOeb4A5MLq5Kg5kBgls9mIvc1lKCngJNWD7gPF7ggZW5zIbeEtN4JnJC_NelBaCwQOG7JV3FA6CrNpX7xk2vrhTn9n4YY7f0GAOUPVvEXUfooUOs6EKL_FQeGroPybH7FcOkfeA/s1600/IMG_0139.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhz74G-XOeb4A5MLq5Kg5kBgls9mIvc1lKCngJNWD7gPF7ggZW5zIbeEtN4JnJC_NelBaCwQOG7JV3FA6CrNpX7xk2vrhTn9n4YY7f0GAOUPVvEXUfooUOs6EKL_FQeGroPybH7FcOkfeA/s640/IMG_0139.JPG" width="483" /></a></div>
<br />
I crocheted the traditional granny square stitch around fabric, using the colours yellow and aqua. I must admit I was sick of yellow by the end of this project, but I was, in the end, happy with the rug. And yes I have started on another rug, but it will be a Christmas present, so I wont be blogging about that one until after Christmas. Which isn't all that far away!Bekyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05115699316629226322noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1595563574231789309.post-61422009236347088272013-06-26T14:00:00.001+10:002013-06-26T14:00:26.767+10:00Get Well Soon Greeting Cards<br />

Using fabric in the center of a traditional granny square and I'm using yellow. Not a big fan using bright colours, not sure why.<br />

Each square is taking me 40 minutes to an hour to complete. So perfect to do, while watching my favourite TV shows. <br />

It's been a long time since I've done a blog post. So lets try and get back into the swing of it, by starting with a book review. </div>

Since entering the world of stamping, I came across
this lovely and recent book all about stamping, written by Meagan Lewis, at our

of explaining how to carve if you are left-handed. There are around 20 projects for the reader to attempt,
ranging from an easy level to a more complicated level of skill. Projects cover stamping fabric, paper and
even magnets. Each project is
illustrated well and helpful hints are also included.</div>

Seeing I still had many maps left over, I thought I would give it ago. <div>

So the key ingredients needed were</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 Table</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Mod Podge ($20.00 - <a href="http://riotstores.com.au/" target="_blank"><i><b><span style="color: black;">Riot & Art)</span></b></i></a></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
After cleaning the table, I brushed Mod Podge all over the table, then placed the map on top of the table. Smoothed it out as much as I could. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ0VOSWVZsTFOVY8MB_x-hWL3Cde4na2uC4qq8K-j_fkkaAfnkgjV84zlgw_6i6pcb7u-hfS2HYvwZ_S9N7vfaQZPnxSR4bVqFp63_z4zAyY2v3NdoPN7AWEIjKzWo-U32tGnSAkQqbfg/s1600/03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="504" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ0VOSWVZsTFOVY8MB_x-hWL3Cde4na2uC4qq8K-j_fkkaAfnkgjV84zlgw_6i6pcb7u-hfS2HYvwZ_S9N7vfaQZPnxSR4bVqFp63_z4zAyY2v3NdoPN7AWEIjKzWo-U32tGnSAkQqbfg/s640/03.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div>
Next I cut around the table, but left 2 cm of map hanging over the edge. Then proceeded to cut the paper so it would be easy to glue, fold and tuck under the table. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Next step was to paste another layer of Mod Podge on the map to give it some protection. It took less than 15 minutes to dry seeing I was doing project outside. Then some more layers of the Mod Podge for extract protection. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I've watched her business grown from it's humble beginnings to now an international business. I'm just loving her new carve-a-stamp kits. <br />

So here goes.<br />
<br />
For those who don't know, I'm deeply immersed into the subject of science fiction in all it's shapes and forms. Our son has also taken up the interest and of course computer games. He asked if we could make a Sonic the Hedgehog costume for some up-and-coming science fiction conventions. I'm not a costumer, my knowledge on sewing is basic, but I thought, why not. It would be a great challenge.<br />
<br />
My son found this amazing tutorial on Youtube . So basically we are using this as a guide.<br />

Well so far, so good. Our progress so far.<br />

We purchased wire from Bunnings, made the frame, paper mached it and<br />
placed a bike helmet inside. Fur is purchased from Spotlight and foam from Clark Rubber. <br />
<br />
Our next step was making the 6 spikes that appear on the head. <br />

And the thought of having a crochet rug over my lap was not appealing. So I thought it was time to learn how to carve my own stamps.<br />
<br />
Setting up my lovely collection of carving tools and carving blocks, fellow crafter Trudi, also decided to do some carving. She is far more experienced than I, so I was very grateful that Trudi shared her skills and wisdom into the world of carving. I must say, it's harder than it looks! But very therapeutic at the same time.<br />
<br />
Well that first time carving was a few weeks ago. So I thought I would tackle it again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2cDqR-xMrWAMyPK09z9DEFWt__8eLm5kV0m5j1XoAGYTzpN26W4gPQxSg5KpfqGTBLXIen-vqrxz1ZVZ7Dnn6I9tSAtl0zbPn58fCdbKhzCcWodGpN3P4_ci0kOUXCpkqV8dM3ViYs5s/s1600/IMG_0018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2cDqR-xMrWAMyPK09z9DEFWt__8eLm5kV0m5j1XoAGYTzpN26W4gPQxSg5KpfqGTBLXIen-vqrxz1ZVZ7Dnn6I9tSAtl0zbPn58fCdbKhzCcWodGpN3P4_ci0kOUXCpkqV8dM3ViYs5s/s400/IMG_0018.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
In the above picture you can see a heart and a handbag at the top left. They were my stamps from the craft day. This time I carved a traditional comic speaking bubble and a dress. A little better this time.<br />
<br />

There is currently a new Australian drama being shown here on the ABC at the moment, <a href="http://www.abc.net.au/tv/doctorblake/" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;"><b><i>The Doctor Blake Mysteries</i></b></span></a>, starring Craig McLachlan and Nadine Garner.<br />
<br />
Set in the Australian town Ballarat in 1959. McLachlan plays Dr Lucien Blake, he has come back to take over his deceased father's medical practice. Not only is he the local Doctor, but also the police surgeon for the local police. <br />
<br />
I'm really enjoying this show. Scripts, acting, production is wonderful and shows off an old world charm. Also wonderful to see Ballarat and surrounding areas in all their glory. <br />

While watching Bold and the Beautiful, I made some Apricot and Cranberry Jam. I was a little nervous, because the last batch of jam I made didn't set. And what a waste of all that beautiful fruit. But alas, this batch was a success.<br />
<br />
And to finish it off, I found this <span style="color: black;"><b><i><a href="http://www.thekitchn.com/the-jam-labelizer-design-print-your-own-jam-labels-for-free-166939" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;">Jam Labeliser Design and Print for free web site</span></a>.</i></b></span> I could have designed my own labels, but you know how it is, sometimes one just doesn't have the energy. <br />

This week I am one of the<i> </i><a href="http://www.madeit.com.au/picks.asp" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;"><b><i>Seller Picks Editor for Made It.</i></b></span> </a> I have chosen items on Made It, made by other creative people, the theme is Steampunk.<br />
<br />
<i>Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery, especially in a setting inspired by industrialised Western civilisation during the 19th century. </i><br />

<br /></div>
<div>
The Suitcase Rummage Market is a little different to the usual market. The stall holders sell second hand items or handmade items from out of a suitcase. Pretty simple really. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Majority of the items that were on sale were second hand clothes, ranging from modern day to a little bit of retro clothing. Saw these gorgeous shoes, tried them on (feeling a little like Cinderella), but alas, no, they did not fit. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am thinking of participating in one of their next markets. There are not many markets left that are at a reasonable price and their stall or I should say a suitcase position is at a reasonable price. When one sells stationery, one needs to sell a lot of products just to break even. It's times like these I wish I sewed or made jewellery. </div>

I love the history, scandal and of course the clothing of the Edwardian time. For Christmas I was given a beautiful book about the clothing on the Titanic. The book illustrates and explains in an in depth manner the styles of clothing that were worn by each class. Also one gets an insight on the history of famous fashion houses in Paris, London and New York of the time. It certainly is a must read book for anyone who has an interest in historical fashion and history.<br />

<br />
I find this card gorgeous, so traditional and romantic. There is real lace connected to the fan and little sparkles glued on. So delicate.<br />
