Northside Market Tomorrow!!!!!

Come and say hello tomorrow at the first Northside Makers Market in Northcote, Melbourne for 2010. There will be craft for the kids, food, craft and lots of social activity. The venue has wheel chair and pram access.

My First Market for 2010

Well my first Northside Makers Market for 2010 is happening this Saturday. So come along and check out all the goodies that talented women have made. Note that the market is starting and finishing at a different time.

Northside Market Coming Up

Well it's not long now until my first market for 2010 will be turning up on our doorsteps, the Northside Makers Market. I am so looking forward to it. See all the talented crafty women out there. Catching up with other bloggers and hearing what is the latest happening in the craft world.

Amongst trying to keep my son entertained during school holidays I have been designing the odd notepad. My son and I love playing scrabble together, I always loose, believe it or not! However the good thing, scrabble inspired me to design a notebook cover. We will see what the punters will think of it.

My Year In Craft - 2009

Northside Makers have asked people to reflect on their 2009 craft year. So here goes.

1. In my twelve months of crafting, my crafty self made all these...

I tackled making windmills (very successful), writing sets, invitations, bookmarks, notebooks, paper covered pencils, lolly bags, gift packaging, gift wrap and shopping lists.

2. If my year was a colour it would be...
I know this isn't a colour, but the best way to describe it would be 'vintage'. Discovering colours from the past has been such a thrill. Would love to surround myself with colours from the 60s, they are old but so new at the same time.

3. This year I spent way too many craft hours...
On prototype stationery of some sort and not showing the end product to the world. Only a select few have seen them. I guess confidence still has to be built up.

4. This year I wish I'd had more craft hours for...
Personal projects. I really want to tackle the craft of crochet. For my business I want to produce more notebooks and start making boxes.

5. My proudest craft moment of the year was...
There are a couple
- Registering Pivotal Xpressions as a business.
- Registering on Etsy and Made It.
- Was having my very first stall at Made in Thornbury. I was terrified and felt soooo amateurish compared to all the other very talented women at the market.

- Making such wonderful and friendly friends in the craft movement.

6. My biggest craft disaster was...
I think the mouse pads are going to haunt me forever. I have had a great response in regard to my crochet themed mouse pad, but I'm still having trouble with glue etc. I'm determined to get them out sometime this year!

7. This year I had stalls at/visited this many markets...
I had stalls at Made In Thornbury, Watsonia Neighbourhood House and Northside Makers
I visited the following markets:- Made In Thornbury, Diamond Creek Craft Market, Sony and Coco, Blackbird Market, Northside, Sisters Market, Black Market, Melbourne Designers and Eltham Market.
I know this isn't a stall, but visiting Lark in Daylesford was also a highlight for me.

8. My most enjoyable market was...
Was the first Northside Makers market. There was such an electric buzz in the air, weather was perfect, everyone had energy within themselves and products.

9. My best handmade purchase/present/swap/acquisition was...
My best purchases would be my London map diary from Rabbit and Duck, pencil cases from Konstant Kaos and cute 60s pattern cards from Stitch-in-Time.

10. After this year I swear I'll never again...
Doubt my ability to create something that other people will like

11. 2010 I'm determined to...
Crochet more and get at least one product into a retail shop. Relax and spend more energy helping the environment.

12. But I'll probably do this instead...
Eat so much more chocolate. :-)

Northside Makers Social Drinks

Last night was the Christmas get together for Northside Makers members. A group of us gathered at The Northcote Social Club. We chatted, drank and crafted to our hearts delight. It was lovely to see the assortment of crafts that were being completed at the table. I bought my pencil designs to show people how simply they are done. They seemed to like the Northside Pencils that I have nearly completed.

There of course was the exchanging of kris kringle presents. I got some yummy honeycomb and biscuits from Little Cooties! Hubby and I are enjoying the honeycomb.

Thank you to the Northside Makers team for providing food and drinks on the night. Look forward to seeing everyone in 2010!

Northside Makers Market - Overview

My little store

Today was the second Northside Makers Market. I really wasn't sure if I was going to turn up, due to feeling quite sick during the week. However I was determined to go, I really wanted to meet a couple of bloggers that I follow and lets just face it, I just love being there!

I was happy with my set up for this market, however I have come to the conclusion that I wont be bringing my gift wrap, it's just not selling. I will venture into other territory and see what the public wants. The packaging and pencils were a hit and I received lots of comments about the invitations.

I met with the lovely Samone from Red Letter Studio's, I love her work, it's fresh with an old style charm.

I was also very happy to have some yummy food made by Master Chef Cathie / Melbourne Epicure It was really nice to meet her in person.

Overall the day was kind to stallholders, as in no rain, however there was plenty of wind. There were plenty of customers, but they seemed to be holding onto their cash. The music, vibe and organisation was lovely. I wish the Northside Makers team the best of luck for 2010.

Northside Makers Market This Saturday!

Come and say hello at this Saturday's Northside Makers Market. There is plenty to see and do.

I'm so looking forward to seeing all the crafters and their work. If you have children there will be a kids craft table and face painting to entertain them.

Remember to bring lots of cash, great way to stock up on Christmas presents.

16 Days Till Northside Makers Market

I was just thinking, gee I have plenty of time till the next market. And low and behold it is sneaking up. 16 days till my next market in Northcote.

I've been crazy with the pencil designs, they will be excellent Christmas stocking fillers, I hope!

1st Northside Makers Market - Report

My little store

Very tired today, however it was all worth it.

Saturday morning I had butterflies in my stomach, I wasn't nervous for me, I was nervous and excited for the organsiers. The 3 lasses and their supportive partners put a lot work into organising a market. Which isn't an easy task. A lot happens behind the scenes which I don't think people are aware of. I have a fair idea seeing I have helped run science fiction conventions in the past.

Anyway the day started helping out and set up tables etc. Then of course set up my own table. I was happier with the layout of my table at this market. I recently purchased an old magazine holder from the Salvos, painted it and added a cardboard shelf up the top. I didn't want to use wood, that would have increased the weight.

While setting up, I had my first sale at 10am! 1/2 hour before the market officially starts! A nice little boost. :-) I noticed the public started trickling in around 10.20am.

During the day I had my family and friends visit, which was lovely.

Overall the day was a success for me, I met some lovely stallholders and customers. The only sad thing for me as a stallholder is, I cannot browse around and take my time looking at all the goodies.

My Creative Space

I cannot believe it's been a week since I was at the skateboard park watching my son during the holidays. Now, here I am sitting watching Oprah, while I cut out each sheet for my shopping lists. Here I have designed an Edwardian style shopping list. My shopping lists will be on sale at this Saturday's Northside Makers Market.

Children's Writing Paper

It's getting closer to the first Northside Makers Market, so of course I have been busy designing more stationery to add to my little store.

M from Konstant Kaos suggested I design some children's writing paper. Since my robots have been popular I thought I'd design some more robots. So I decided to design robots in different occupations. My son gave the approval for each design. He then requested a robot that was reading. So I decided that my little robot would be reading a book on how to surf. I tell you what, it was fun designing a robot surfing on waves. My son thought it was cool. Phew!

Crochet mixed with tea and chai

What a lovely day it was to chat with other crafters and crochet to our hearts delight. Drinking endless cups of tea, coffee and chai and we cannot forget the chocolate brownies.

Today was the first gathering organised by the Northside Makers. People either brought their crochet or sewing. It didn't matter that there were a couple of us who were beginners, it was just fun to be able to create and talk.

Can I remember?

Trying to re-teach myself how to do basic crochet. It's been many years since I touched a crochet hook.

Thought I visit the Northside Makers crochet group tomorrow. We will see how I go. :-)
