Blogtoberfest Day 7 - School Holidays
So school holidays are nearly over. My 12 year old son and I have completed all that was on his list of things he wanted to do.
We firstly saw 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3', spent a day at the Royal Melbourne Show, Rollerblading, Go Karting and visiting friends. The big hiccup of the holidays, I end up getting very sick with fevers, bronchitis and tracheitis. I literally ended up in bed for days. I thought poor kid, what a way to spend the rest of the holidays, mum in bed and him stuck at home. But full credit to him, he was helpful, went down the street to get supplies and never winged. Thank you to my little boy.
Now he has his last term at primary school, then high school. Where have the years gone?

Blogtoberfest - Day 6 Do you have the time?
Tired now, really left this post too late to write. Just saw the excellent science fiction film, 'Looper'. Basic outline: -

In 2072, when the mob wants to get rid of someone, the target is sent 30 years into the past, where a hired gun awaits. Someone like Joe, who one day learns the mob wants to 'close the loop' by transporting back Joe's future self.
So it made me think would I want to meet my future or past self ? Me, I would rather see my past self and give myself a few tips of what to do and what not to do. As my husband said, he wouldn't want to, because if one changed something in the past it could effect your future.
However if I just wanted to travel back time, I would choose medieval or Victorian London to travel back to. Would you want to meet your past or future self or just travel to a different time period?

Blogtoberfest - Day 9 - Eat Pray Love
.jpg)
Last night mum and I had a glorious girls night out. We ate far too much Chinese food, I'm still full even now! Then we went and saw the Julia Roberts film, 'Eat Pray Love' based off the Liz Gilbert book. I had not read the book, but knew of it's popularity and of course had seen Liz on Oprah etc.
I enjoyed the film, enjoyed the scenery, and mostly enjoyed the characters that Liz meets on her 1 year journey, looking for her self. I felt 'Richard from Texas' was far the most complex character, and I give full credit to the actor Richard Jenkins he should get a nomination for an Oscar. I felt more emotion from this character than any other.
Overall enjoyed the film and my mum did as well. I feel anyone should see it, it's not just a chick flick.
After seeing the Eat Pray Love, I thought what is my Eat Pray Love and I have decided chocolate is my eat, Wilsons Prom is my Pray and my Family is my love.

Making It Handmade - MIFF
Yesterday Margaret and I had the pleasure of attending the premier of 'Making it Handmade'. The doco was featured at the Melbourne International Film Festival.
The 60 minute doco covered the craft movement in Melbourne, illustrating this topic by focusing on a selection of high profile Melbourne craft women. We got to see how, why and where they craft and what they felt about the craft movement and how it has currently gone into mainstream media, like adverts, magazines (ie: Notebook and Realiving). Also discussing how politics and female sexuality can be interwined into craft. There was also the discussion of Etsy and other internet based craft oline sale sites.
60 Min. was way too short to cover the vast subject of craft. Seeing the movie was filmed around a year ago, I would be interested to see a follow up. Even the shear amount of craft markets in Melbourne, and now around Australia, is showing how capitalism maybe taking over creativity. One could mention that the small token craft market that you may see at a church hall is being dwarfed by the big serial craft markets like Magnolia Square and Finders Keepers.
Overall I really enjoyed the doco. I found it inspiring, educational and even funny /quirky. I wish the makers good fortune and hope there is another film.
