Birthday Gift

Made a little gift for a very dear friend. A mini album from paper, recycled cereal box and Japanese Paper. Placed some cool photos from our 'girls night' out, so she can remember the fab night we had. Then I whipped up some wrapping paper on the computer. Instant cool birthday present.

Boys and their scooters

I have been enjoying myself lately, designing more wrapping paper and little gift tags to go with the gift wrap.

The gift set is once again aimed for boys. This of course is not a surprise, seeing I have a 9 year old son. His interests of course give me inspiration and ideas of what to design. His current interest that seems to be taking up his time, is the humble scooter. So of course I thought why not incorporate my son into my designs. So recently we both headed off to the local skate ramp. I took some great action shots. Below is just a little sneak preview of what the gift tag will look like.

Crafty Wrapping Paper

Having a son has made me realise that there isn't much out there for boys, unless you buy products that has the token Pokemon, Spiderman or Ben 10 symbol on it. So I decided to try out on designing a simple army design for wrapping paper.

I have incorporated my husbands CGI skills and placed one of his CG helicopter models into the pattern. Presto my first prototype wrapping paper was born.

That afternoon my son had a 9 year old birthday party to go to, so I thought we try it out. The mother of the birthday boy thought I had purchased the wrapping paper, so of course I was happy.

Designing my first piece of wrapping paper has just opened up another area to express my crafty thoughts.

Researching Printers

Well when one starts a business, one must research. So today I visited a few printers in my local area. It was interesting what type of responses I received from the printers. It ranged from, 'can I get this customer inquiry through quickly' to 'would you like more information, can I help you with something else'?

I have discussed with people in the past about printing products in China. I have decided that I will print as much as possible here in Australia. Yes it may cost more, but like many others I want jobs to stay here in Australia and I want to support Australian workers.

The next bit of researching will be the process of wrapping paper. One can never have to much beautiful wrapping paper.
